This is a fantastic Advent story for families to read together, especially with older kids. Set in the time of Jesus’ birth, it brings the Advent story to life through a thrilling narrative full of adventure, suspense, and heart-pounding moments! This is the first book in a four-part series, which also includes Bartholomew’s Passage, Tabitha’s Travels, and Ishtar’s Odyssey. The other three books follow different characters whose paths cross with Jotham. You get to see the story of Jesus’ birth unfold from different angles before, during, and after Jotham’s journey, giving a fresh perspective on the events surrounding Jesus’ birth.

I highly recommend these books, especially if you’re looking for a resource to engage older kids in Advent or a simple way to bring families together for storytime. The short chapters are perfect for reading around the dinner table or at bedtime (though fair warning, it’s so thrilling it might be a bit intense right before bed!).
