A Summer Family Faith Practice Idea
Summer often brings campfires, backyard fires, or evenings outside together. Here’s a simple faith practice families can try around the fire or even around the dinner table if there’s no campfire in sight.
While roasting marshmallows, invite each person to share one of these:
- Something that made them smile this week
- Something hard or heavy they’re carrying
- One place they noticed God’s goodness, help, or beauty
Then, as everyone gets ready to enjoy their treat, offer this simple blessing:
A Campfire Blessing
God, thank you for warm summer nights, for people to gather with, and for the ways you are with us in every season. Thank you for the joys we’ve shared, and be near to us in the hard things too. Help us to notice your goodness, trust your love, and carry your peace with us wherever we go. Amen.
If you’d like, end by having each person bless the person beside them with one short sentence:
“May you know God’s love and peace this week.”
