Book Review

Go on an adventure through God’s Word! This book presents 100 key Bible stories, arranged in 20 sections of 5 stories in an exciting way for kids. There are 50 Old Testament stories and 50 New Testament stories. Each challenge has a key story plus 4 more stories related to the challenge and contains questions to get kids thinking, reference to the whole story in the Bible, fun facts, hands on activities and different ways to engage with the Scripture story, a fold out page that contains a image with all 5 stories depicted visually and further resources to check out online. The side of the page has a column that shows where each challenge fits in the timeline of all the Bible stories. Kids can work on this on their own but it is designed in a way that a parent or adult could go through it with a child. This could also be used as Sunday school curriculum.

The format is engaging and the content is well written. It corresponds with The essential Bible Guide, which is a book of 100 readings for adults to engage the Scriptures regardless of their experience of Bible reading. Big Bible Challenge is geared at kids ages 7-12. Both of these resources are from Scripture Union. If you are looking for a way to engage kids in Scripture reading then I highly recommend checking out this resource.
